Workshops, Induction and Training
Council conducts two (2) workshops each year (usually in May and November) for volunteers to attend.
Invitations and agenda will be emailed to the Secretary in advance of each workshop. It is a requirement of Council’s delegated authority that the Secretary and Volunteer Safety Officer, of every Community Operating Committee or Incorporated Association managing a facility, attend each Council workshop.
The purpose of the workshops is to:
- Provide information, resources and face-to-face inductions and training to representatives from each committee or club;
- Present guest speakers on a range of topics relevant to our volunteers;
- Provide an opportunity for Council staff to discuss and answer questions in an informal environment about specific facility issues;
- Ensure that volunteers are aware of their responsibilities in relation to Work Health and Safety.
New Online Safety Induction for all Volunteers:
Instead of Council inducting Volunteer Safety Officers at Information Sessions, Council have created an online Safety Induction Form.
- Who needs to complete the Induction: All volunteers appointed in a Delegate Authority are asked to complete the form upon their appointment.
- When should I complete the Induction: We ask that newly appointed Delegate Authority Members aim to complete the Induction as soon as possible after their appointment to ensure their safety.
