Removing goal posts
In a shared recreation facility, remove goal posts at the end of the season. When removing goal posts please ensure you:
- Wear protective clothing and any other protective equipment required
- Avoid removing or installing goal posts in the middle of the day during summer months
- Conduct a visual inspection to ensure site is safe before commencing activity
- Stop work if any unauthorised persons enter the area
- Place caps over holes or fill them with sand and, ensure surface is flat and safe for other users
- When goals are not in use, they must be locked into a position where they can not cause injury to other field users or obstruct Council staff from undertaking maintenance such as mowing
- Clear the field of loose equipment
Installing goal posts
To install goal posts at the start of the season, you must:
- Conduct a visual inspection to ensure site is safe before commencing activity
- Stop work if any unauthorised persons enter the area
- Remove caps and store safely and place goal posts in holes
- Bolt, peg or lock goal posts as per the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safety for users
- Clear the field of loose equipment
