2024 Lake Mac Women's Sport Festival - Get Involved!

We are excited to announce the Lake Mac Women’s Sport Festival is back in 2024!

The Festival will be held from 2 - 10 March 2024 and is a weeklong celebration of the relationship of women and sport, tied together by four themes:

  • Empowerment
  • Advocacy and Power
  • Athletic Excellence
  • Community and Support

The 2024 Lake Mac Women’s Sport Festival is designed to:

  • Celebrate the athletic excellence of local and national professional, and amateur sportswomen.
  • Increase awareness of the health and social benefits of taking up sport and/or exercise.
  • Encourage more women and girls remain active throughout their different life stages
  • Provide the opportunity to try-out a wide range of sports and engage with local sporting groups, and organisations.
  • Educate all members of the community about impact sport can have for women in regards to empowerment, confidence, and its impact on their personal and professional lives.

This inclusive festival will offer something for everyone, with an extensive program that caters to sporting newcomers, aspiring professional athletes, coaches, administrators and anyone who wants to challenge themselves and take on a new sport.

What’s planned for 2024?

We are excited to be offering an expanded program in 2024 and will be seeking expressions of interest from local sporting individuals, organisations, associations and clubs to provide activities that what will enhance the festivals program of events coordinated by Lake Macquarie City Council.

Get Involved!

Community-led activities and events

We are currently seeking expressions of Interest from local sporting professionals, associations, organisations and groups, who would like to participate and promote their sport during the Festival. We are seeking events, activities and experiences that support the aims of the festival for women, young girls or initiatives aimed improving and supporting inclusive participation in sport.

We are accepting applications across two categories:

  1. Propose an activity (funding up to $1,000)
  2. Free Stallholder space at the Try a Sport Family Day Sunday 3 March 10am – 2pm.

Try a Sport Family Day at Speers Point Park

Sunday 3 March, 10am – 2pm

A day designed to provide the opportunity for the community and sporting organisations to meet and connect and explore the range of activities that can be undertaken within our area. It is held at the start of the festival to enable organisations to promote any events happening across the week and to encourage sign ups and memberships. We ask that each stall has a fun, interactive component that can engage all members of the family. I.e mini drills, quick games or challenges etc.
